Hallo. Welcome to my page.

My name's Mike Locke. I'm 62, married to the same lovely woman I met at university in the '70s. (We both started as physicists but not any more - I now work in the internet industry for the trade association for independent networks). I first saw the Isle of Wight from my school on the South Coast and started visting then with the mandatory school trips to Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle. My family had a mooring in Gosport and we've participated in the Cowes Regatta so visits to the island continued.

We planned our escape to the Isle of Wight in 2017 and after many visits, fell in love with the West Wight the moment we saw it. It's very beautiful, not too crowded and has a real community feel. We were lucky enough to find a great house in Colwell Chine Road right on the border between Freshwater and Colwell.

As the island rebuilds life and economy after Covid-19 and Brexit, it is important that the benefits of recovery are available fairly to all island residents and that we fight to keep the unique character of the Isle of Wight.I'd like to hear your views as to local priorites and how to support our community. There's an online survey here

If you share these sentiments, I ask for your vote and promise to do my best for my fellow residents.

That's why I'm standing for the Isle of Wight Council this May 6th.I believe our residents deserve a better standard of behaviour from Councillors who should work hard for our Island - all of our island and all our fellow residents.

You can get in touch via my Facebook page or Twitter @MikeIoWLibDem or even just email me at mike.locke@iowlibdems.org.uk.

I class myself as an overner-in-training to become a proper Islander. The sense of community here in the West Wight is wonderful and makes us feel right at home. Thank you. So we've tried to help and join in. The West Wight Sports & Community Centre is first rate and really helps us all get fit and stay social with initiatives for all ages. And, as you know, it's providing a vital home for the Vaccination Clinic to help us all stay healthy.

I volunteer for the West Wight Help Hub so you may have seen me on a marshalling shift. Give me a wave or a muffled "hello" through your mask! I'm a member of the West Wight Social Club, support Friends of Freshwater Library, Feline Welfare and other local initiatives such as Islanders4Europe and Beer & Buses.
