So many of us have been watching in horror as the unfolding war on the Eastern edge of Europe has unfolded, we've watched the news and wept as we see people fleeing, cowering in the shelters and having their lives ripped apart. We've also marvelled at the bravery and tenacity of the Ukrainian people as they fight to save the country they love from Putin's army.

It is with great sadness that the Region heard about the passing of Lord David Chidgey. He was a good friend to this region and many of our members. He was the MP for Eastleigh before standing down and becoming ennobled in 2005.
We asked Cllr Keith Howes Leader of Eastleigh Borough Council to write an obituary for our members newsletter.

It is surprising and deeply disappointing that Bob Seely has felt able to yet again defend the moral vacuousness and calculated slurs of Boris Johnson.
We have a Prime Minister who stands up in Parliament and lies about partying while the rest of us dealt with isolation and sorrows during lockdown.
A PM who then very deliberately in Parliament falsely associates the opposition leader with a vile paedophile. Then he performs a very quiet minimal backstep while refusing to apologise for a calculated lie. All leading directly to threats and abuse against a fellow human.

Hallo. Welcome to my page.
My name's Mike Locke. I'm 62, married to the same lovely woman I met at university in the '70s. (We both started as physicists but not any more - I now work in the internet industry for the trade association for independent networks). I first saw the Isle of Wight from my school on the South Coast and started visting then with the mandatory school trips to Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle. My family had a mooring in Gosport and we've participated in the Cowes Regatta so visits to the island continued.
