Ventnor & St. Lawrence by-election 21st Dec 2023

With his long-standing relationship with Ventnor, Ray Harrington-Vail can represent Ventnor & St. Lawrence at County Hall.
"Ventnor needs a fair deal. All too often, residents feel neglected compared to the big towns” Ray said.
Ray set up the Warmer Ventnor initiative 10 years ago, through the Footprint Trust and Ventnor Town Council. This initiative has helped a large number of Ventnor residents.

New Lib Dem Councillor!

Sarah Redrup has been elected as a new Councillor in Wootton Bridge. Sarah won the by-election by more than 180 votes and secured nearly half of the vote (47.8 per cent).

The results for the Wootton Bridge by-election are:

  • Sarah Redrup (Liberal Democrat) — 475 ELECTED
  • Ed Hopper (Conservative) — 291
  • Linda Pitcher (Vectis Party) — 178
  • Michael Smith (Green Party) — 48

Too many children are still leaving school without the knowledge and skills to be successful. Finding a good school is a struggle, lessons don't always stretch the brightest or support those who need more help, and classes are often too big for teachers to control.

Civil liberties and political reform - today's featured policy, Thursday 22 April

The way Britain's run means the Government doesn't have to listen to you. One party can get control over Parliament even if only a quarter of people vote for them. So individual people and families don't seem to have a voice to influence what happens. The old parties are comfortable because they know they'll get into government every few years - so they never change things and they never will. But people are fed up of being ignored. It's time to make a real change. We need to have an open political system that's designed to listen to people and deliver what they need. Everyone should have an equal voice - not just people who can pay for big donations.
