Lib Dems set out Council budget amendments
The Liberal Democrat group on the Isle of Wight Council have welcomed the Independent Group's efforts to prevent damaging cuts to front line services proposed by the ruling Conservative Group.
With his long-standing relationship with Ventnor, Ray Harrington-Vail can represent Ventnor & St. Lawrence at County Hall.
"Ventnor needs a fair deal. All too often, residents feel neglected compared to the big towns” Ray said.
Ray set up the Warmer Ventnor initiative 10 years ago, through the Footprint Trust and Ventnor Town Council. This initiative has helped a large number of Ventnor residents.
Sarah Redrup has been elected as a new Councillor in Wootton Bridge. Sarah won the by-election by more than 180 votes and secured nearly half of the vote (47.8 per cent).

The Liberal Democrat group on the Isle of Wight Council have welcomed the Independent Group's efforts to prevent damaging cuts to front line services proposed by the ruling Conservative Group.
The decision that the Isle of Wight will elect two MPs from the next General Election has been welcomed by Island Liberal Democrats, following a non-politically led campaign with supporters drawn from across the poiltical parties.
Chris Huhne, the Liberal Democrat Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change was due to attend a dinner arranged by Island Liberal Democrats to speak with representatives from a wide range of commercial organisations, with an Island interest, together with Island Liberal Democrat Members, writes Tim Wakeley.
Island Liberal Democrat are appalled at the news that over 500 individuals are to lose their jobs within the Council. The impact on services, the Island's economy, and our communities will be devastating.
Jill Wareham, former Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for the Island, called on the Isle of Wight Cabinet members to agree to realign the Military Road further inland.
Liberal Democrats actively oppose the hiving off of any part of the Island in an un-natural and deeply silly attachment to part of the mainland, to form less than half of a very odd Parliamentary Constituency indeed.
